Story of MG Farina Magnette, Chassis Number 21270
MG Magnette Mk4. Chassis number 21270, engine 4562. RHD. Registered in Scotland as 'VSD848', this two tone old english white over sandy beige MG originally belonged to a Mill owner in Newmilns, Ayrshire. He kept it for four years, then it passed to a local garage. After three years further use, it was laid up and left for 23 years. Robert Miller of Galston, Ayrshire discovered the friendless MG, and purchased it on 1st November 1993, with most parts siezed up. It has been registered on 19th May 1963, and had 86,355 miles on the odometer. Mr. Miller carried out a very common modification to the MK4, as he fitted a 1800cc Marina/MGB 18V engine, (using a single Marina 1.8 SU carburetter and manifolding,) a MGB overdrive gearbox, an electric fan, and inertia reel seat belts. In June 1998 the car was sold to a Patric Nicholls, of Dereham, Norfolk, England. The car is now all snowberry white.
