Magnette Mk. IV Storybook

Story of MG Farina Magnette, Chassis Number 23630

MG Magnette Mk4. Chassis number 23630, engine 6954. RHD. This connaught green MG, ( a very dark green, almost black,) over old english white, registered on the 1st June 1964, as 'BAU651B', was purchased new by someone in Nottingham. The car was supplied by the BMC dealers, Morkill and Carnhill, in that old, walled university city. It remained in the same area for the next 20 years, then moved out to Lincolnshire, to Grantham until 1995. The car was by now in poor condition, and a Mr. Mark Sutcliffe of Mansfield purchased it for banger racing, the fate of most UK Farina cars when old. Peter Dunn saw the car, and took it under his wing, with 104,000 miles. He welded up the rotten bits, and now has the car up and running on the road, now with the only modification it has, of inertia reel seat belts. Fixed seat belts were not required in the UK until 1965.
