Magnette Mk. IV Storybook

Story of MG Farina Magnette, Chassis Number 26992

MG Magnette Mk4. Chassis number 26992, engine number 10299. RHD. This Mk4 Magnette has gone into history in the UK, as being the most expensive one ever purchased in a car auction. The car is virtually new, so it is no surprise someone was prepared to buy it. Alas we do not know who purchased her in February 1997 for the figure of £4,382. The original owner had passed away, and the car was sold as part of his estate. Registered as 'DGN986C' on the 19th May 1965, by a Mr. Wilf Kedge, a retired army officer, who lived in Petts Wood, Kent. The connaught green car was very little used, Wilf did not like our busy roads, and was put into storage in 1971, with just 4717 miles. The car was then purchased by a Mr. Malcolm Chapman of Chelsfield, Kent, having heard of the car in July 1987. He actually became its owner in November 1988. The only faults with the almost perfect car, were those caused by lack of use, such as brakes, clutch, etc. The roof needed painting due to a robins nest above it, during it's 17 years storage. Mr. Chapman relaced all the chrome with new parts as he found them, and improved what was already a very good example. ( Do you know its present owner??)
