The newsletter of the MGCC Moss International Speed Championship

28th February 1999

Welcome to another year of competition with the MGCC Speed Championship....

Yes it’s that time of year again. Welcome to the 1999 season of the Moss International Speed Championship. There have been a couple of changes this year, most notable of which is my retirement from the position of Co-ordinator. I am now relegated to Registrar and Northern scribe, while Sue takes on the mantle of "She who must be obeyed" as MSA registered Co-ordinator and Simon Hawkes fills in as Southern Scribe. This arrangement allows both Simon and me to compete in the series as Sue is the final arbiter of the accuracy of the published results.

1998 Regulations

With this newsletter I have enclosed this year’s regulations and as you will see, there is one common set of regulations for both series. These are basically the same as the draft sets sent out to 1998 competitors and published on the ‘net. The most significant changes are minor adjustments to the Standard class to allow standard cars with fuel injection to run as such, and the correction of the dates that either I got wrong on the draft, or clubs changed at the last minute. But read them anyway!

Calendar

Having said all this, the calendar is still wrong, as having finally published them, two dates have been changed late last week. So, everyone should note that:

For most the entries will be on a first come, first served basis, with no restriction on MGCC entries, the only exception is Gurston Down, who have restricted us to only 10 places. This event will be selected from those who specifically identified this as an event they wished to compete at in last seasons survey, with next priority given to 1999 newcomers.

Pre-season Testing/Track days

The NW Centre is once again organising an open track day on 12th March at the 3 sisters track near Wigan. The cost of this is £60 for a full day, £40 for half a day. No licence is required, just common sense and a crash hat, Anyone who is interested should contact John Fairclough on 01257 482265 to book a place, or just send him the money but say whether its am or pm if you’re only doing half a day. The address is:

Gardeners Cottage

1998 Awards

I still have in my possession several unclaimed awards from last year, those not collected at the Dinner Dances, plus a few from Silverstone. I plan to take them with me to the first few meetings of the season for people to collect. Alternatively, drivers are most welcome to drop in at Chez Garvey for tea and a chat and to take away their trophies.

Well that’s all for now, see you at Harewood.
