MISCellaneous NEWS Issue 2 N&S

The newsletter of the MGCC Moss International Speed Championship

6th April 1999

Welcome to another year of competition with the MGCC Speed Championship....

Yes I know I started the last newsletter this way, but hey, its late and I’m tired and just ran out of ideas.

The season is now officially under way, with Harewood last Sunday, where a small but select group of Northern chaps (and the odd chapess) were out to play. Not a lot to say at the moment as I didn’t take any times during my short stay at the event, but suffice to say Lloyd has not had a good start to his season. With the roll at Cadwell in his first Abingdon Trophy race, another accident at Brands a week later, then in his first Speed event, he deposits his oil up the length of the hill. Not an auspicious start, but more of that next issue.

This is intended as a very short missive to give you the latest dates changes and the first sight of the entry list to date. As can be seen, almost an equal split between North and South this year, with plenty of new faces in the list. Hope all you old timers make them feel welcome if I’m not around to do the honours.

The list also includes the records/bogey times for the first 3 events in each series, a full list will follow next month.

So to the latest round of dates changes:

A full listing is given over leaf

Decals

These should be enclosed for the newcomers and those who requested replacements. Same as 1998, I’ve not had time to redesign them what with the new job and all eating into my spare time. If by some chance I haven’t managed to get them printed this week (I’m writing this Tuesday night, to copy Wednesday & stuff on Thursday which is the day the stickers should be printed. Confused, you should be, I certainly am) then don’t worry, you’ll still get your points OK.

1998 Awards

I still have in my possession several unclaimed awards from last year, those not collected at the Dinner Dances, plus a few from Silverstone. I plan to take them with me to the first few meetings of the season for people to collect. Alternatively, drivers are most welcome to drop in at Chez Garvey for tea and a chat and to take away their trophies.

Well that’s all for now, see you at Curborough, if I can get Piglet running like something other than a bag of nails that is!!
