Safety Fast! Notes for November 2008

First of all I wish you all a happy Christmas! But it’s only November I here you cry.
I am so used to writing the notes for December I can’t seem to change my ways!
On to the car stuff, the Treasure hunt planned for early October was cancelled due to the complication of rules and regs now having to be met for this type of event.
The Kimber Production car trial was hopefully held on Sunday the 19th of October and I hope to have been there as I have managed to miss it in the past even though I have heard great reports, enough of things not yet happened!
On to something that did, Wiscombe Park hill Climb. I do love that event and I guess so did 130 or so drivers that entered.
The weather was superb (again) although the paddock was like an ice rink first thing due to heavy rain for the preceding two months! After Ian Coxen sorted the drivers out and calmed them down they issued from the paddock in an orderly fashion all day long.
As usual the Event was organised by our very own Mr Bruce Weston who managed to come up with some magic wizardry in calculating the batches to run the hill (I have not known such a slick day). We managed to get to 5 cars from the end until an incident slowed down the proceedings. The car was damaged as it ended up in a tree! very left of the gate, thankfully the driver was ok. I must also thank the marshals and helpers who always turn up and enable the day to run like clockwork, see you all next September.

There is not much more to discuss on the car front and it is time to store them in the dry for the next few months as the winter approaches fast. All those jobs still to do, “its ok I will get round to them this winter” I here you cry, that’s what I said last winter.
Still not much progress on my trials midget, at least not on the welding front.
A few more bits painted ready to bolt on, I have even purchased the paint but I still need the finished shell, all welded and strong.

The picture I have chosen was taken by me (on a mobile phone!) on Blue Hills 2 in 2007.
As you can see the weather was great and even better when you see MG’s being used in anger. This should give me the motivation to get into the garage and fire up the MG. See you all soon,

Have a good Christmas! Regards

Jon Pittard.
