FISC EUROTOUR NEWS FROM ZANDVOORT GRAND PRIX CLASSIC - 13/14 SEPT. 2008

MORGANS DOMINATE IN HOLLAND

Although the Morgan's won two out of the three races in the FISC EuroTour's Grand Prix Classic meeting on September 13th and 14th, the third victory was taken by an AH Sprite with the narrowest of margins, of only 0.021 sec's.

Three different race winners were the result of a wonderful weekend of friendly, but competitive racing. The weekend saw all kinds of different weather circumstances, beginning with free practice on the Friday in the rain, qualifying and race #1 on the Saturday in damp conditions and race #2 and #3 under a blue sky on the Sunday.

Two Morgans took the podium in race #1, the lightweight roadster of Roger Whiteside (UK) on top, second, the open AH Sprite of Hans Dullaert (NL) and third, came Leigh Sebba (UK) in his Morgan +8; Whiteside winning with a margin of 4.780 sec's and another 10 sec's separating Dullaert and Sebba.

Whiteside, now on pole in the second race, saw the two Sprites of Dullaert and Mark Dols (NL) crawling over his back in the first lap. The track still damp, and the heavy beast still on cold tyres, invited the car to run wide halfway, ending up in the gravel trap, never to return. Nevertheless the Sprites were unable to fight off Sebba in his +8, who took overall honours closely followed by Dullaert and Pieter Bakker (NL) taking third in his AH "Monza" Sprite.

Sebba, inheriting pole for the third race, already lost his advantage in the first "Tarzan" corner, Dullaert and Bakker now fighting it out side by side and Bakker only taking the lead in the fifth corner. A silly drive-through penalty took Bakker out, leaving the fun to Dullaert, Sebba and Dols; the first one taking overall honours, shadowed by Sebba with a spectacular margin of only 0.021 sec's and Dols a distant third.

The next event is the Trophé Historiques de Bourgogne at Dijon Prenois (F) over the weekend of October 9-12.
