Drive in #2 Is On The Way

With apology to Rodgers and Hammerstein, "The hills are alive with the Sounds of British Car Engines". Did you ever wonder where Maria, Captain Von Trapp and the kids went after they trekked over the Alps at the end of the "Sound Of Music"?

Well, it was to Stowe, Vermont, the site of our "Drive-In #2" and "The British Invasion" classic British car event. The famous Trapp Family Lodge is one of scores of wonderful inns and restaurants in the Stowe area that you can enjoy while attending the Drivers Club’s second annual gathering in Stowe on September 17-20, 1998.

Last year, at Stowe’s 7th "British Invasion" event, over 600 proud British car owners braved rain and icy wind to register their cars for what has become one of the premier British car events in North America. MGs did very well in the concours class with a 1935 MG PA of Phil and Linda Laiacona winning the Chairman’s Award for Best Sports Car.

Nineteen Ninety Seven was the first year that "The British Invasion" faced real British weather. Co-Chairman Chris Francis promises the Drivers Club better conditions for 1998. The Drivers Club has booked the Golden Eagle Resorts’ Banquet Room for a Members and Guests Reception on Saturday September 19th from 4:30-6:30 PM. We’ll be presenting our M.G. Drivers Club Cecil Kimber Enthusiast Award and having a lot of great food, drink and good company at this beautiful facility on the Mountain Road: just five minutes from the car show field.

Club members might want to join those who have already registered at the Golden Eagle and use it as a Club oriented base at "Drive-In #2". Call 1-800-253-4811 for rates and reservations. So mark your calendar now and join the legions of British car lovers that migrate to New England and Stowe each September. New for 1998 at "The British Invasion" is preregistration for all of the show cars-please note this important change.

For those interested in general lodging, tourist information, etc., call the Stowe Area Association at 1-800-24-STOWE (1-800-247-8693). For information on "The British Invasion" contact Chris Francis at 1-800-253-5320.
