Royal Automobile Club services sold to an American Company

The RAC, owners of the British School of Motoring, are set to be bought by American business services company Cendant, for £450 million. Cendant owns National Car Parks (NCP) and the Green Flag breakdown service. The deal, likely to be concluded this summer, will give the RAC's 12,000 full "clubhouse" members windfalls ranging from £33,000 to £35,000. While there will be no cash for the five million ordinary members of its vehicle breakdown service, they are promised benefits from the amalgamation of the two breakdown services.
