MG Car Club - Autumn Gathering - Groombridge Place

After two very successful events at Penshurst Place in 1997 and 1998, the South East Centre Autumn Gathering this year was moved to the delightful grounds of Groombridge Place Gardens, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Three road runs started at 10am, converging at Groombridge for 11am. There was the normal concours, pride of ownership which is self judged, gymkhana, treasure hunt and children's activities as well as everything that the delightful gardens and Enchanted Forest at Groombridge has to offer.

Patchy showers and overcast skies meant that many of the cars were covered up. This was a particularly good opportunity to see some rare weathergear - just take a look at Keith Portsmore's M type and Chris Cook's L1 Magna to see what I mean!

Traders included Bryan Purves (upholstery, parts and chroming), V8 Conversions (conversion of MGB's to V8), Vintage Vending (signs and toffee apples!), Red House Autoparts (parts and accessories) and Caffyns the local MGF dealer.

For those not competing there were hours on entertainment in the award winning Enchanted Forest and Birds of Prey displays. Sadly we were just a few weeks too late to see the acres of sunflowers in full bloom.
