MG LOLA EX257 SPORTS CAR AND TEAM DRIVERS SCRUTINEERING AT LE MANS, JUNE 12, 2001

Tuesday June 12, 2001 marked an historic and festive occasion for MG Sport & Racing Limited as the MG LOLA EX257 sports car and drivers passed scrutineering for racing in the 24-hour endurance race at Le Mans, June 16/17, 2001. 1965 marked the last time an MG competed in the 24-hour Le Mans race.

Motorsport fans gathered in Quinconce des Jacobins, Le Mans city centre, to witness scrutineering and to enjoy the opportunity to talk with the MG XPower team.

Mark Blundell, former Le Mans winner and participating MG XPower driver said: "Scrutineering is all about the build-up to the Le Mans race. There's a festive atmosphere here as the drivers talk with fans, sign autographs and focus on the task ahead."

Team drivers - Mark Blundell, Anthony Reid, Warren Hughes, Julian Bailey, Kevin McGarrity and Jonny Kane - were weighed with their complete racing equipment on. Each driver then presented their driver suits, helmet, gloves, shoes, driver's licence and medical certificates for inspection.

The MG Lola EX257 was then presented to ACO officials with its Union Jack and racing numbers displayed on each side.
