University Motors 2002 Technical Seminars

UNIVERSITY MOTORS Ltd is pleased to announce the 2002 Technical Seminars, the 19th in a series. University Motors has received an "Excellent" rating by members of the North American MGB Register and it is one of two Heritage Workshops in North America (appointed by British Motor Heritage). University Motors was founded by John H Twist in 1973 and is soon to enter its 28th year of full time operation. The seminars will be held in February, 2002, at University Motors' Ada workshop (a suburb of Grand Rapids, Michigan). Participants from across the US as well as Canada, Mexico, and South America have attended in the past. This year's seminars include the T-A-B-C-Midget Mechanical Seminar and the MGB Restoration Seminar (both weekend, lecture classes); and four, two-day weekday seminars: an XPAG engine rebuild demonstration; two gearbox rebuild classes (bring your own gearbox); and one carburetter rebuild class (bring your own carbs and distributor). Weekend courses, which include a Saturday Banquet and a copy of the latest University Motors Technical Book, are limited to 25 participants; Weekday rebuild courses are limited to 10 participants. SCHEDULE February 2002

Monday - Tuesday, 2/4 - 2/5, XPAG ENGINE REBUILD - Lecture / Observation. John Twist will assemble an MG TD engine on the bench, from component parts, and start it up! This class is helpful to those assembling any engine, but especially the XPAG/XPEG (TB - TF). Class size is limited to 10.

Wednesday - Thursday, 2/6 - 2/7, T & 3-SYNCHRO GEARBOX REBUILD - Bring your own gearbox (TB through 1967 MGB) and rebuild it under the direction of the University staff. Parts cost in addition to registration is predicated on internal faults. This class is for the hale and hearty -- a real combat operation. For twelve years ALL (but two) owners have left with completed, working gearboxes! Class limited to 10!

Monday - Tuesday, 2/11 - 2/12, 4-SYNCHRO GEARBOX REBUILD - Bring your own gearbox (1968 - 1980, Std or O/D) and rebuild it under the direction of the University staff. Parts cost in addition to registration is predicated on internal faults. This class is for the hale and hearty -- a real combat operation. For twelve years ALL (but two) owners have left with completed, working gearboxes! Class limited to 10!

Friday - Sunday, 2/15 - 2/17, T - A - B - C - Midget MECHANICAL SEMINAR - Lecture / Observation / Hands-on. Learn University Motors Complete Lubrication, Complete Tune-up, Electricx, Complete Test Drive, the Home Workshop, the complete Toolbox, Workshop Hints AND time John Twist in his "Fastest U Joint in the World" demonstration (can he better his record of 4 1/2 minutes?) University Motors will provide the several MGs required. Evening discussions include Taps&Dies, Weights & Measures, Histories, Restoration Sequences, Clubs and Events, Parts Sources and Literature. Banquet includes factory training films! Class size limited to 25!

Monday - Tuesday, 2/18 - 2/19, TUNE-UP SEMINAR - Bring your own SU or Stromberg carburettors and Lucas distributor to rebuild them under the direction of the University Motors staff. Parts cost (about $125 - $175) in addition to registration is predicated on internal faults. Class size limited to 10!

Friday - Sunday, 2/22 - 2/24, MGB RESTORATION SEMINAR - Lecture / Observation / Hands-on. Learn the University "approved" method of restoration sequencing. Time spent on Body, Exterior and Paint, Interior, Underbonnet, Chassis, and Electricals. This seminar is extremely helpful for those fascinated by restoring their own MG. Evening discussion include many of the same subjects as the Mechanical Seminar and the banquet includes more factory films. Class size limited to 25!

Weekend participants receive the "all new" 2002 edition of the University Motors Technical Book in addition to the banquet. All participants receive their "degree in MGineering" -- it's all in good fun.
