WSR TACKLE THE FAST AND FURIOUS

As the 2004 MSA Green Flag British Touring Car Championship reaches is closing stages the WSR team will be happy to put behind them the disappointing weekend at Brands Hatch and focus on the next three races at Snetterton.

In contrast to the short, tight configuration of Brands Hatch, Snetterton is a power circuit on the BTCC calendar. The Norfolk track provides Revett Straight, where drivers can reach top speeds of up to 150mph.

Anthony Reid will be looking to return to his run of good form with a title challenging performance. Following a recent Dunlop tyre test at Snetterton Anthony said: “The target is to return to our winning formula which we were enjoying before Brands Hatch. The car didn’t feel as good at Brands and my retirement in race two (the result of a Vauxhall domino effect) didn’t help. I’ve had the opportunity to drive the car at a Dunlop tyre test and it feels good. I’m upbeat and optimistic for the next round at Snetterton.”

Colin Turkington will be aiming to avoid the start line incident which side-lined him in the opening race of the 2003 Snetterton meeting. Talking of his game plan for the weekend Colin said: “The biggest factor for me this weekend is that I shall be qualifying with a lighter car (-24kg) and I need to capitalise on this for the opening race. Race wins are certainly achievable and we proved at Knockhill that the car is also competitive in race two and three.”

Dick Bennetts said: “We’re looking to get back to our winning ways at Snetterton. Both of the MG ZS’ will be carrying less than the base weight, which stands us in good stead for qualifying. Anthony and Colin are at the top of the Independent Trophy and both drivers will be looking to extend that lead. Anthony is also campaigning towards the more challenging overall Drivers Championship which mathematically is still achievable.”
