25th Anniversary Summer Concours d’EleganceSunday 21st August

To commemorate the Lincolnshire Centre’s 25th Anniversary, we returned to The Petwood Hotel at Woodhall Spa, after a lapse of many years. We were blessed with a glorious summer day, and at lunchtime entertained by the New Riverside Jazz Band. The entries spanned from 4 and 6 cylinder ‘MMM’ cars through virtually the whole range of T-types to a large collection of MGBs in all their guises. Alan Dakeyne, former North East Centre Chairman, brought along his lovely ZB Magnette Varitone from Leeds via Shelsley Walsh Hill climb the previous day. Sadly there was only one MGA, belonging to Robert Taylor, and where were all the Midgets? – Stephen Wright bringing the only example.
The invited club’s cars ranged from Caroline Hewson’s 1923 Reo Rumble Seat Roadster through a brace of Rolls Royce 20/25s and the smart Alvis 12/60 of Peter Leech to a pair of Post War Jaguars and a Porsche 993.
Nicholas Platek’s TA was outstanding. The modern MGs were very difficult to separate and eventually one point decided it in favour of Roger Smalley’s white MGB Roadster over Alan Wright’s Jubilee MGBGT. The modern MG class was equally close for John Holme’s red MGRV8 just pipped the only tie between the MGTF of Peter Hermite and the MGZTT of Graham Saunders.
It was a shame we didn’t have more entries from the MGF/MGTF and MGZR/ZS/ZT Registers – perhaps they could make the event part of their programmes for next year when we hope to return to the lawns of The Petwood.
