The Holland Brothers Trophy Rally

Sunday 16th October

It's Sunday 16th October and we're getting organised for the Navigational Scatter Rally in the afternoon. We have metric ruler, pencil & eraser and flick through our Ordnance Survey Maps...

We have 122, 131, but where is 130? Answer: It's not there! We don't have one. Whoops!

Fortunately W H Smiths come to the rescue and we arrive at the Nags Head, Helpringham, with a crisp new map (£6.75 lighter in the pocket though - No 122 had apparently cost £1.40!).

Tim & Judith Bee were busy handing out the instructions for Doug Samuel's Rally. It all looked quite simple. Plot twelve map references, visit them all and note down 'Place, their name and occupation' using the minimum number of road miles.

We set off to find the clues and some seemed to be hiding from us!
Our answers of "Threekingham - A White Horse" and
"Aswarby - Shorn the Sheep" raised a laugh but turned out to be incorrect!

Most answers were at churches or public houses, and Alan, Jacqui and Stephen Wright found more than anyone else.

The results were:-

Our thanks to Doug for organising the NaviScat, Tim & Judith for looking after all the competitors on the day and the Nags Head for their hospitality. We saw some wonderful scenery in the October sunshine and it was lovely to have the roof down so late in the year.

The next opportunity to drive around with MG friends with the roof down will be New Years Day - don't miss it, will you!
