Second Revival AutotestSunday 14th MayA cold wind and spots of rain did not deter the nineteen competitors and over a dozen marshals and spectators from the apron at the Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby, on Sunday 14th May for the Second Revival Autotest. Following signing on and scrutineering, there was a driver’s meeting, with instructions to carefully read the ‘final instructions’, before everyone lined up in order to attempt the first test. The first test saw last year’s Revival Autotest Winner, Shane Terry, leaving rubber on the start line as he sped off between the cones, handbrake turned in the ‘garage’ and accelerated to the finish line faster than anyone else. Fastest on the second test was Nigel Pack in his MGB Roadster powering around the course with his usual aplomb. Test three again saw Shane beating all the opposition. On Test four, Adam Cunnington’s Peugeot 206 showed the sports cars the way round with Peter Thompson’s Midget the nearest rival. A welcome lunch break where several of us drove to the Red Lion, Revesby, for a tasty Sunday Roast was followed by keen competition in the afternoon. Test five saw Nigel Pack showing us all the way and on Test six Shane Terry flew the flag, also in an MGB. On Test seven, Adam Cunnington drove his Peugeot 206 to fastest time. With dust flying, Nigel Pack’s MGB stormed to fastest time on both Test eight and Test nine. In the final results, John and Sheila Laurence (MGB Roadster) and Robert Taylor (MGA 1600) had completely clean drives to 3rd, 4th and 5th places overall. Newcomer Ena Fox can’t wait for the next Autotest after her MGB finished the day in second place in the Ladies class. Thanks were given to Mike and Caroline Hewson and all the marshals for making this another Lincolnshire Day to remember.
Don’t forget to send in your entry for the next autotest on Sunday 10th September or offer to marshal at the event. |
