New Year’s Day Run

Monday 1st January 2007

Surely there is no better way than to start the New Year by gathering with MG friends for a sedentary tour of some of the finest Lincolnshire countryside. That is exactly what over fifty Lincolnshire Centre members did.

Derek & Lynn Wright’s choice of route was up to their usual tip top standard. Starting from The Abbey Lodge at Kirkstead, where most of us indulged in a final festive lunchtime feast before the obligatory New
Years diet resolution really kicked in.

During lunch Dave & Veronica Stonehouse gave out the quiz sheets they had compiled. Everyone had great fun working out the motoring themed answers.

Then a leisurely drive through The Wolds, finishing at the Coach & Horses in Faldingworth for coffee and mince pies. What more could you ask for? Eat, drive MGs, eat... Ah bliss!

Always a big part of the New Years event is the Pride Of Ownership, or in this case The Landlords Choice. Before leaving The Abbey Lodge, landlady Emma cast a discerning eye over the fifty assembled cars and judged Bill Sharp’s MGA to be her favourite for which Bill received a bottle of champagne courtesy of The Abbey Lodge. Second place went to Dave Whitton with his MGB and the Midget of Bob Welch rounding the proceedings off in third.

Bob Welch interviewed Chairman John Laurence for a short film to explain the history of the first event of year and give a flavour to those who missed the fun...

The 2007 New Year Day event was probably the best ever supported event of its type within the Lincolnshire Centre and this falls in line with the current upturn in entries and attendances at all Lincolnshire Centre events both sporting and social.

We have more excellent events planned for 2007, so please keep an eye on the website for forthcoming events.

THERE’S A LINCOLNSHIRE CENTRE EVENT OUT THERE FOR YOU !
