Lincolnshire CARR
What is the CARR?
The CARR is a special event designed to appeal to all kinds of mildly and more enthusiastic competitive people. We combine the Navigational skills of a team (a pair of enthusiasts maybe even a man and wife!) with the driving skills of individuals. Entrants are encouraged to enter either or both of the events (navigation or driving skills tests)
The
pairs doing the Navigational test are asked
to follow a suggested route. They are given route directions at the
start incorporated within a road book. If they follow the suggested
route precisely they will complete the run perfectly. However we monitor
them along the route to ensure they are following the suggested route.
Penalty points are awarded for incorrect directions along the route. |
Does this sound difficult? naturally it can be but it is also a lot of fun and can help bond pernerships, he says tongue in cheek
Now what about the Driving skills test (AutoSolo)? Here we set out a number of cones defining a course on an airfield that has to be driven correctly and as quickly as possible. This allows competitors to drive their SPORTS cars in an enthusiastic manner without breaking the law. How much fun can that be? well try it and you will find out it is probably the most exhilerating feeling you will have behind the wheel of your car.
Here again penalty points are awarded for hitting a cone, doing the wrong route and finally length of time taken. This adds up to a total time for the test and the lowest time is declared the winner. We then give out awards for winners and places in the Navigational test. Awards for class places in the AutoSolo. And finally we combine the 2 event scores to determine winners and places for the overall awards. Here on the right are last year's (2013) overall winners Hazel and Robert Taylor they were competing in their MGA |

Awards for class places in the AutoSolo. And finally we combine the 2 event scores to determine winners and places for the overall awards.
