Safety Fast! Notes for May 2007

What do you do with yours? Your MG that is! Our centre calendar has something for everyone, all you need to do is turn up. With a quarter of the year gone we have already had social events with monthly natters and our annual dinner, the spit & polish of the classic car show, a bit of mud and fun with the Kimber Classic Trial and gymkhana, a competitive navigational scatter and by now you have probably missed the first speed event of the Wessex Sprint. You can't ask for greater variety than that, especially as we also throw in a couple of invited events by way of a road run and another trial. Yet we see so few of you, why is that?

So if you're feeling guilty but think you have missed all the fun, not so! For your future entertainment we have coming up the Wye Valley social run on 20th May, a totally non competitive scenic drive through some of the most picturesque lanes of the Wye Valley, with an interesting destination and lunch stop. Phone Terry Davies for more details on 01989 562366. Next up in the afternoon of June 3rd is the Bath Gymkhana, a lighthearted and hopefully non damaging event suitable for any MG. Check your driving ability round courses set out with cones, with judgement tests included for good measure. All the fun of the fair ably organised by Peter Jones who would be delighted to take your entry or offer to marshal on 01225 837545. Don't forget our annual trip to Silverstone on 22-24 June, especially our involvement in the California Cup. If you have not entered why not get really close to the action and marshal? Neil Lock is in charge again so call him on 01275 817915.

Finally, a quick mention of what is looking like being one of the highlights of the year, our third Auto Aero day at Oaksey airfield on the outskirts of Swindon. More details to follow, but a good selection of vintage aircraft and classic cars will be in attendance, all for charity so well worth your support on the first of July. Phone Tony Blake for more info on 0117 9790108, or as with all events keep up to date by visiting the centre website.

Hopefully I have now filled your diary for the next few weeks, no excuses now, I'll see you at an event soon!
