TDs used Ferodo MR19 linings and then they switched to Ferodo DM7 for the TF. That may explain why they stenciled DM7 on the back plate of the TF, so mechanics would know the recommended material when doing a brake job.

It may have been only used on the relatively early TF's so those TD parts would not accidentally be used.

• MR19. Solid woven non-metallic. Less fade resistance than MR41. More suitable for medium-sized cars.
• DM7. Moulded. High friction value. Suitable for light to medium cars.
