Note the molded rubber was installed first and then the asbestos padding, on this car. This is an exception for MGTDs and MGTFs and I have never seen this before. The owner verified this characteristic as original for this car by identifying each tack that was removed from the carpeting around the tunnel and saw no additional holes. The owner also indicated that when reinstalling the padding, it fit the curve of the rubber exactly, so he new that it was installed this way originally.
