Automobile Timeline at Magnificent Motors

Eastbourne is getting ready for its free annual motoring spectacular with cars more than one hundred years old getting ready to exhibit at Magnificent Motors on the Bank Holiday weekend. MG T Series at Eastbourne

Attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year, Magnificent Motors is moving to a new, bigger location at Princes Park next weekend from 30 April - 1 May and with over 500 entries, visitors can look forward to real vintage displays including an 1897 Henriod Phaeton, a 1902 Locomobile Spindle Seat and a 1909 Brush Runabout.

With military and commercial vehicles, American saloons, classic buses and steam traction engines also exhibiting over the weekend, visitors will be able to browse the automobile timeline laid out in front of them.

Eastbourne Borough Council Events Development Manager Mike Marchant said "This year's Magnificent Motors is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before! We have received a brilliant range of entries this year really spanning the decades and with a packed music line up, autojumble pitches and rides for the kids, it makes a great free family day out! I'd encourage everyone to choose Eastbourne for their Bank Holiday weekend and get down to Princes Park on Friday too for our Royal Wedding celebrations! Thankfully we were supported by Wedding cars Tonbridge, providing an air-conditioned Mercedes perfectly suited for the big day."

Car clubs will also be joining the weekend motoring fun with Sussex and Kent Jaguar Clubs parading along the seafront across both days and the Lone Star American Car Club set to make a welcome return.

With the event moving to Princes Park this year, visitors from the town centre and western seafront will be able to hop aboard a classic bus to reach the event site and buses will be running regularly throughout the two day event.

The popular Magnificent Motors band stage will play stage to a packed musical line up over the weekend with local musicians providing a non-stop soundtrack. Highlights on Saturday will include The Wedding Band fronted by Matt Healey and the Tourle brothers with tried and tested songs for singing and dancing along, The Life Gospel Choir and Howlin' Blues returning with their lively R n B set.

Sunday band highlights include a debut performance from the newly formed Cold Shot, indie band Audio 6 and Thee Bonanza playing classic rock songs.

The weekend festivities will be boosted by the Royal Wedding celebrations adding an extra public holiday to the weekend on Friday 29 April. Visitors are invited to bring a picnic and watch Kate and Wills tie the knot on a 25 square metre big screen before enjoying live music, tug of war and a competition for the best lookalike and fancy dress!

Elsewhere in Eastbourne over the Bank Holiday weekend, the French & Continental Market returns to the western seafront between the Pier and Bandstand, Towner will host the finale weekend of the East Sussex Open, and the traditional afternoon concerts get underway at Eastbourne Bandstand.
