Secretary's Notes

The Secretary is available between 9.30am - 5.00pm and 7.30pm - 10.00pm

Having just completed a very hectic 3 weeks, attending 3 national events of the MG Octagon Car Club, MG Car Club and MG Owners Club I suppose that I will now have to settle down to attending some of the more regional events. These in some ways are more enjoyable, as I usually have the opportunity to have a chat.

Don't forget our popular Lake Weekend being held on 23 - 24 August. Full details can be obtained from Gary Waiting, 106 Stainbank Road, Vicarage Park, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 5BE Tel. 01539 724742.

Again some new publications. The ever popular MMM Yearbook 1996 is now available at £7.50, as is the T Register Yearbook 1996 at £7.00. Of particular interest to Y owners and rally enthusiasts, is Rallying in a Works MG by Len Shaw. Len, whom some members will have met when he has loaned the Club his car for the NEC Shows, became a member of the Abingdon based works team in the early 50's. A full amount of his rallying experiences are contained in this publication. Limited to 750 copies, it is available at £19.95. Finally, for this month, Bay View Books Ltd have updated MG Sports Cars to include coverage of the MG RV8 MGF. This book is now in hardback and at £19.50 is very good value. All the above publications are available from the Club office. Postage has to be added, so do not send any money until you receive an invoice.

Whilst talking of money, we must point out that due to ourselves being charged 6% for a credit card transaction by Natwest Streamline, we are now passing this on, except for membership renewal. Sorry.

For those members who are selling their cars via the Bulletin, we have extended the coverage of your advert. It will now appear in the MG TTO, Holland Club Magazine as well, unless you notify us that you do not wish it to appear.

Will members please note that the Chesterfield Natter has now moved to the Peacock Inn, Cutthorpe, Chesterfield.

There are two events that members might enjoy going to, but at which the Club will not have a presence. The first is MG Marque Day at Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire. Unfortunately, this event clashes with the Retro Show at the NEC. The other event is a 999 Cavalcade to be held by West Mercia Constabulary on 24 August 1997 at Hindlip Hall, Worcester. If you have an ex-police car and are interested in taking part, please contact PC B.G. Seabourne, Amathus Gardens, Evesham Road, Salford Priors, Nr Evesham, Worcs WR11 5UU. That is about my lot for this month.

Thank you for making my position as Secretary so enjoyable.

Happy MotorinG

Harry
