M.G. DRIVERS CLUB PRESS RELEASE

The M.G. Drivers Club, the first US/Canada wide club for all types of MG's awarded its "Best MG In Show" trophy during the Club's September 18-20, 1998 annual gathering, "Drive-In #2". "The Drive-In" was held in conjunction with annual "British Invasion" event in Stowe, Vermont.

The Awards Committee unanimously chose Ralph and Allene Brown's absolutely spectacular red 1969 MG Midget for the top prize. Ralph has owned the car since 1971, and used it as his daily driver until 1976 when it became his weekend and summer fun vehicle. In 1993 Ralph says he had come to the point where he had to decide to either get rid of the car or restore it. Since he and the MG had been together for over twenty years the only choice was a complete restoration! "There were parts all over the house, Allene thought I had gone crazy", said the Charter Member of the Drivers Club. "My neighbour helped with the stripping and rebuilding of the engine. The body work was done by a local firm who had restored many concours cars in the past but the rest of the rebuilding and detailing was done by me."

Everything on Ralph's Midget was rebuilt from the ground up. In the very first show the Brown's car was entered it took first place. From there it was constantly on to many other first place wins. The 69 MG Midget's biggest prize to date was a National First Place at the Antique Automobile Club of America's National Show held at Hershey, PA in October of 1995. The M.G. Drivers Club's, "Best M.G. In Show" trophy now joins the many others in Ralph and Allene's Wanaque, NJ home. Congratulations!
