The 1998 Safety Devices Historic Rally Challenge, has been won by Iain Patterson, who came through the howling gales and torrential rain of the Pye Motors Classic Illuminations Rally to take victory

Iain Patterson, from Aylesbury, went into the final round of this year's Challenge needing to finish above rival Roger Ray to clinch the series. Roger Ray suffered electrical problems with his Ford Escort, and retired from the event, as a result the way was clear for the man in the MGB to take the overall Driver's title.
