"Vintage-On-Avon" motor racing

On Sunday 24th March 2002 the country town of Northam in Western Australia once again reverberated to the sounds of reving engines and the raucous exhaust notes of vintage and classic sports and racing cars.

The reason was the 4th running of the "Vintage-0n-Avon" motor racing event organized by the Vintage Sports Car Club of Western Australia in conjuction with the Town of Northam Council.

Prior to the establishment of proper race circuits these "Round the Houses" race meetings were enjoyed by many enthusiasts during the 1950's.

Now run with modern safety precautions for both spectators and participants this revived form of motor sport has lost none of the colour or excitment of bygone days.

Cars competing were many and varied with several MG's being entered. Some of those entrants are pictured here enjoying their racing to the full.
