MG WORKS ENTRY - MG ZS EX260

Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship
Rounds 5 & 6 - Thruxton
May 5/6 2002

Following the two second positions achieved at Oulton Park, MG Sport & Racing now head south for rounds 5 & 6 at Thruxton. Competing in their WSR designed and built MG ZS EX260s, drivers Warren Hughes and Anthony Reid are looking forward to racing at the fastest circuit in the championship.

This is only the sixth BTCC outing for MG Sport and Racing and although still in a period of development, an excellent donor vehicle and the expert management of WSR have resulted in progressive and remarkable levels of success.

Due to the higher speeds at Thruxton, a new specially designed tyre will be fitted to both cars.

Commenting on his potential for the rounds at Thruxton, Warren Hughes said: "With a new tyre being introduced, these are going to be interesting races. Due to my results at Oulton Park I will be carrying a lot of ‘success ballast’ and will have to see the difference this makes. I love Thruxton and had a lot of success here during my Formula Three days."

Despite his disappointment at the previous race, Anthony Reid said: "I think we can move forward again at Thruxton as was the case at Oulton Park and Brands Hatch. I'm expecting to see a little more from the engine performance and chassis, and given that I was fastest at the Thruxton test, that all bodes well for both races."

Dick Bennetts, managing director, WSR added: "We look forward to continuing our run of achieving a podium finish at every race meeting."
