MONDELLO PARK

Easy!!! MG Hot Wheels Racing were literally 'jubilant' at their last outing in the BTCC at Silverstone when Warren Hughes secured his first win of the season in the Sprint Race. Anthony Reid followed Warren onto the podium later in the day making it a double celebration when finishing second in the Feature Race.

The pair of MG ZS drivers now turn their focus to Mondello Park but not before Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes have competed in the 24 Heures Du Mans endurance race this weekend.

On the back of his win at Silverstone Warren commented: "Obviously I'm enthusiastic and team spirit is very high off the back of Silverstone. Mondello is a circuit that should favour the MG so I'm really upbeat about racing there, especially as I don't have a weight penalty! Qualifying will be especially important as it is a tight, twisty circuit. I'm going to go for my second win of the season."

Team mate Anthony Reid added: "A lot of encouragement was drawn from the weekend at Silverstone and clearly MG has stepped forward. We certainly have the chance of winning in Mondello, which is critical for the points as we reach the mid-season stage of the Championship. Everyone is passionate about racing in Ireland so the atmosphere will really be one to look forward to."

The MG ZS touring car has been the only other car to break the stronghold of Vauxhall during this season and is really starting to show its potential. Looking forward to Mondello Dick Bennetts, managing director, WSR said: "The MG ZS chassis should suit the twisty nature of Mondello. It will be a new experience for drivers and teams as only a handful of them drove the circuit last year. For WSR's engineers it will also be a data gathering exercise as we have very limited information on the circuit."

The two MG Hot Wheels Racing ZS's will be joined again by the Atomic Kitten duo of Colin Turkington and Gareth Howell. Originally from Newry Colin is excited about racing on his home turf, he said: "I am extremely excited about the forthcoming Mondello event as it'll be the first time I've raced competitively on Irish soil in four years. Although I have never raced at Mondello before, I hope there will be some home support for me and I'm aiming to capitalise on this."

Gareth Howell is no stranger to Mondello. Commenting on the weekend: "I had a great time at Mondello last year - I had a podium finish in the production class! I love the circuit and I love the atmosphere. It's a tight circuit so there should be some very close racing."

Rob Oldaker, managing director, MG Sport and Racing said: "Silverstone produced two excellent results for us which is a reflection of the dedication and experience by everyone in the MG Sport and Racing team. While our development programme continues we all go to Mondello Park with an increased level of optimism."
