MGB Wins Asian series

Driver Ingemar Lampa has just won the AON Insurance/Hong Kong Classic Car Club Racing Series 2002, in his 1966 MGB Roadster, which was held in 4 rounds at the Sepang F1 Circuit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this year, between May and September.

The series was organised in to 4 meetings with 2 races at each meet, as support races to the main event, e.g. Japan GT Championship in June.

Mr. Lampa managed 7 wins out of 8 possible this season in Class A, which gave him a total of 79 championship points and therefore both the class title and overall championship title, inspite facing stiff competition from a V8 powered TVR 3000M, Jaguar E Type, Porsches etc. The last time this MGB took the title was in 1998, then driven by Mr. Nigel Kat, also from the HKCCC.
