London Classic Motor Show

This year's opening classic car show in London was held 15-16 March at the Alexandra Palace, Wood Green.

It was Emap's second year of running the show and several traders that we spoke to said that many improvements had been made. The show was indeed well supported by Traders, Concours entrants and Visitors alike. The smallest of the three halls which contained the autojumble was indeed crammed so full of people that the midday Sunday spring sunshine filtering through the stained glass, tempted us outside much earlier than would have been the case in previous years.

The main point of interest for us was the rebuild of Richard Monk's black factory V8 that was going on in the corner of the largest hall. Dubbed 'The Practical Classics Challenge', a Triumph Spitfire was being rebuilt alongside Richard's MGB GT V8. The commentary of Quentin Wilson and the energetic Jerry Thurston from Channel 4's Salvage Squad, ensured a well stocked gallery - or was it just a chance to sit down?
