AMGBA 2004 Meet Review

by Bruce Magers

The American MGB Association held its 26th annual Meet from October 9 thru 11th, 2004 in Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Margie Johnson, our national secretary, coordinated the event with the Cape Cod British Car Club's British Legends weekend.

The weekend's events started Saturday with a driving tour on a beautiful Indian summer morning. A well thought out tour led us to the Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich. There we had the unique privilege of viewing many early classic vehicles. From there we took a picturesque tour along the coast line passing many quaint villages on the way to Woods Hole. There was a nice barbecue at the world famous Marine Biological Laboratories.

On Sunday we were fortunate to have an unseasonably warm, sunny day on the Falmouth harbor which was the location for the car show. A record number of British vehicles were in attendance of which a third were MGs. The AMGBA conducted a popular vote car show.. There were rows and rows of MGs from early Bs through Limited Editions including Midgets. Secretary Margie Johnson handled the AMGBA awards presentation.

It was great to meet many of our long time members in the New England area. Frank Ochal, Margie Johnson and myself were kept busy all day signing up new members and providing other member services at the AMGBA table.

The weekend's events final event was a delicious brunch held at the British Beer Company overlooking the Falmouth waterfront. There we had a chance to say our good-byes and thank yous to Mike Dellaire, Kevin Thompson, Steve Harris and the other members of the Cape Cod British Car Club.

Winners of the American MGB Association popular vote were as follows:
