Abingdon ~ the Spiritual Home of MG
The Arden MG Club was founded in September 1989 when a group of six MG enthusiasts met for the first time at the Golden Cross, Ardens Grafton, near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Since then, the Club has met every first Tuesday of the month and the membership has grown to some 100 members. The meetings are informal, along the lines of a ”Noggin and Natter.” There is no membership fee and the funds to cover the running costs are raised by a monthly raffle. The Club is affiliated to the MG Car Club Midland Centre and the MG Owners Club. Owners of pre 1956 cars, the Arden Octagon Group, meet on the last Tuesday of every month at the Blue Boar, Temple Grafton. 1993 saw the first Arden MG Club Heritage Run. It was the first Classic Car Run to visit the Heritage Motor Museum taking place the day after it was officially opened. 200 MG Cars left Stratford-upon-Avon, traveling through the lanes of Warwickshire on a journey of about 60 miles before arriving at the museum. Because of the success of the first Heritage Run, it has become an annual event with entries coming from all parts of the country. The number of cars participating range from 150 to 200 each year.

The club was formed some twenty one years ago by about a dozen enthusiasts, many of whom are still members. Since then the club has grown steadily to a membership of some forty (membership being couples or individuals) which means that we have over sixty people and forty five cars ranging from MGA to MGTF, Z series via B's and C's.
As a club our philosophy is "Enjoy using your MG" although there are plenty in the club with technical and mechanical expertise should advice be needed. Our main interests are social activities involving the use of our cars as often as possible. However in winter months we tend towards pub games, quizzes, skittles and so on rather than venture out in the cold and wet, though some members do use their cars as daily drivers.
Our programme for the year is set at the AGM in January and apart from the usual monthly meetings we list about twenty events in which we hope to participate and others are added as the year progresses. Events vary from Classic Car Shows, weekends away at various club runs, a Treasure Hunt, exploration of the local countryside by car and on foot, our annual holiday to France and other occasional trips abroad to European events. No one goes to everything, but there is a good selection to choose from and other members to go with.
During the summer months a 'Pub Run' is organised for the first Thursday in the month and we drive a reasonable distance to a variety of interesting hostelries, usually situated in scenic locations, for a pub meal.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly club and make all visitors welcome. If you live in the Coventry and Warwick area why not drop in to see us some time.

We are registered as an MGCC Natter, but this isn't the type of Natter (or MGOC group) where cliques sit in the corner, unwelcoming to newcomers, as some - but not all - are. We're the friendliest of guys! Honest!
