BRITISH SPORTS & SALOON CAR CHALLENGE

Once again we are again privileged to have been invited by "The Motor Classic a.s.b.l." to race at this world famous circuit in BELGIUM in the beautiful countryside of the ARDENNES, at the SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS International Road Circuit.

This is an International Historic race weekend, and an appropriate National or International Licence will be required, Eligible licences will carry the EEC blue badge marked "valid throughout the EU.

The circuit length is 6.940 Km, this will give a race length of approximately 45 miles. Classes will be arranged to suit the entries received (Please inform us of your normal competing class and number).

Eligible Cars
M.G. and British sports and GT. cars of the period are eligible eg. M.G.'s, AUSTIN HEALEY, TRIUMPH TR's, MORGANS, JAGUAR and . Also Classic British saloon cars IE / Triumph Dolomite, Ford Capri, Jaguar, Mini Coopers Etc. Plus British & American cars running under "The Classic Saloon Car Club GB" Regulations (Co-ordinator Ken Clarke). "Classic Touring Car" (Co-ordinator Stuart McCrudden) & HSCC members driving classic cars (Co-ordinator Grahame White)
The race is open to 65 starters..... ( for practice we can run 75 cars) Just think 65 British cars on a rolling start, what a spectacle!!

All entries are subject to Final Selection and Acceptance by the co-ordinator on behalf of the organisers. Acceptance will be notified as soon as possible after receipt of entry form. And the entry list will close on the receipt of seventy entries. The more time to make ferry bookings the better, so it is advisable to get your application in as soon as possible. Due to the large entry, we will be unable to use your normal competition number. Numbers will be allocated on a one to one hundred basis by the organisers.

Please present your car in the spirit of the year of manufacture and in keeping with your normal race championship class structure regulations. We will again have our own scrutineer and he will be checking all cars for compliance with your normal race championship regulations. M.G.'s to co-ordinate with Barry Sidery-Smith, and all other competitors with their competition secretary or co-ordinator, Or Barry for final clarification.

FERRY CROSSING
There are various sea routes to use. Those in the north can use HULL/ROTTERDAM. For most people we recommend.... DOVER/CALAIS....this is the cheapest route or........ HARWICH/ HOOK VAN-HOLLAND . On the new Seacat 3 Hour crossing. Or for those of you in the North.......Hull / Rotterdam.....Dover/Calais--Spa 219 miles....Harwich/Hook-- 169 miles... Hull/Rotterdam--Spa 150 miles....

Simon and Jan Come highly recommended as they specialise in sorting out ferry bookings for many Motor Sport functions. Just tell them what car/motor home you have, if you are towing a trailer, and when you wish to travel (it is best to travel in the wee small hours as this is much cheaper) and they will sort out all your travel arrangements at very favourable prices.

CUSTOMS
Following previous year's experiences. We recommend that you make sure that your race car has a number plate front and rear, and carry the log book relating to the race car. Also ensure you have your driving licence and both log book and insurance papers for your tow vehicle. You will need to present your normal driving licence along with your competition licence at signing on.

If you follow the above recommendations, you should have a trouble free passage through customs.

HOTEL'S /CAMPING
A list of Hotels and campsites etc. can be obtained if required, by telephoning the BELGIUM TOURIST BOARD. These are not as expensive as in the UK, and normally offer good value for money. The average Bed/Breakfast Hotel in the SPA area, charge a Standard rate of 1500BF rising to a top rate of 2600BF per twin room. Camping is permitted at the circuit, but the ground is a little rough. Alternatively there is a campsites approx 200mts from the main entrance with showers etc which you may find more appealing.

PRE RACE ENTERTAINMENT
If enough people wish to take part, there is a new Go -Kart Track a short distance away at the far side of the circuit, Or just a few k’s down the road at "Coo" There is a small theme park with a Kart track, and other attractions including a Dry bob sleigh run.

The famous NURBURGRING Circuit is only 75 miles away, should you wish to visit. The FULL (22.8Km or 14.17 miles) Circuit is always open to drive round in you’re normal (or modified car) the cost is approx. 14 DM per lap. There is also a very good motor museum with both cars and bikes are on display.

ENTRY FEE.
THE ENTRY FEE IS £175.00p Sterling
For your entry fee you get a 4.5 mile lap......on a fantastic Circuit and a near 50-mile race, on arguable the worlds best road circuit. Plus a full thirty minute practice session.

BOOKING BY FAX IS ACCEPTABLE (Please fax the first page only of the entry form only), BUT ENTRIES WILL NOT BE CONFIRMED UNTIL YOUR CHEQUE AND ENTRY FORM HAVE BEEN RECEIVED TOGETHER WITH YOUR S.A.E..

This is a fantastic circuit in a superb setting... and it's a privilege to be invited to race there. If you're even only considering entering........ consider no more! Get your entry off now, for it's an experience not to be missed. Remember we all go there by the special invitation of "The Motor Classic a.s.b.l.". And don’t forget that the 6 Hour Race starts at 12.30Hrs on Sunday, and our passes will allow us to stay and watch this spectacle.
