In 1994 a race team was set up, which was completely made up from Rover employees ( Cowley, Oxford). This was & is not a works team what so ever, all work carried out on the cars is done so during the teams spare time. The object was to introduce young people to motorsport. I was lucky enough to be asked to join the team as a driver.

The team during this time was as follows:

Adam Warne - Team Manager / Driver
Richard Higgins - Techincal Manager
Roberto Bonassisa - Driver
Graham Groves - Driver
The team is called Team Cowley MG, and as three MG RV8's, two of which were ex prototypes which were going to be scraped, but we managed to save them. The third car which is the red one that you have on the web site was bulit at the Essen Motor show by British Motor Heritage, who at the time was our sponsor and donated the car to us. The cars are raced in standard trim !

The teams first race was on March 16th 1996 at a wet Silverstone, with myself driving (Roberto Bonassisa) My results for the 1996 season are as follows:

16/3/96 Siverstone 5th
7/4/96 Snetterton 3rd
13/4/96 Oulton Park 5th
28/4/96 Mallory 3rd
23/6/96 Snetterton 3rd
19/7/96 Silverstone (Top Gear) 1st
21/7/96 Pembrey 6th
18/8/96 Mallory 5th
15/9/96 Donnington 9th
29/9/96 Mallory 3rd

The other two drivers competed in the BCV8 championship & I competed in the Phoenix championship finishing 5th overall.

At the start of 1997 I was offered to drive for MJ Motorsport in the MGF Cup, but due to lack of funding was unable to, but became a test & development driver for them.

I would dearly wish to race next season so if get to hear of anyone looking to sponsor a driver, please get in touch with me.

Please see my driver profile as well as some photos
