I left school at 17 and joined Rover Group as an engineering apprentice. In the ten years I have worked for Rover, I have progressed to senior mechanical engineer. Ever since an early age, Motorsport has always been an interest of mine, so much so that at the age of 15 I entered the world of Motorsport as a competitor.

1. I took this time to help my wife (Patricia) raise and look after our new-born son (Joseph).

1. Competed in the Top Gear Live races at Silverstone finishing first in class and three other podium finishes

1. Competed in the MG Car Club BCV8 and Phoenix Championship driving a MG RV8, taking 4 podium finishes and consistently finishing in the top 5. Lowest finishes are a 6 Th and 9 Th due to mechanical failure.

1995/4 Helped to form a racing team, working with Rover and British Motor Heritage, resulting in Team Cowley MG. Also used this time to Test and develop the MG R.V.8. for racing, which was the first MG R.V.8 in the country to be raced.

1. Successfully tested for Langen Formula Ford team and was offered a partly Sponsored drive, but due to recently being married in 1992 and having our first child (Jaimee) I was unable to devote the time necessary.

1985 - 91 Competed at club level in 100cc and 250cc karts when funds Permitted.

Hopes and Ambitions

My engineering knowledge and ability have helped me when it came to the testing and development of the MG RV8 race cars. I believe that having this type of knowledge is very important in a driver especially when it comes to setting the cars up for the race. I hope to carry this skill on for the 1998 MGF Cup Championship, and perhaps extend it to my ultimate goal, which is touring cars.

M J Motorsport has been established since 1990. The experience in the team is second to none, form the mechanics through to the technical department. That is why I have chosen M J Motorsport to launch my assault on this years MGF Cup along with the other two members of the team, Mark Jones and Barry Benham.
