Asia Pacific Importers / Dealers |
These pages contain a small list of important Asia Pacific automobile importers and dealers during the era of the MGTD/TF.
Here are some dealer & lubrication advice plates. These were fitted to cars sold new in New South Wales.

Nuffield dealer in Perth, Australia.
An accessories dealer and repair facility located in Melbourne. Monaro Motors (named after the nearby Monaro Rd, where it had probably originated) was run by Jack Ould in Malvern Rd, Malvern, when in 1951/1952 a certain Peter Manton went to work for Jack. They were selling MGs and manufacturing various improvement parts, like alloy aero screens, side covers and rocker covers. With Peter's arrival Monaro Motors became what is recognised as the first Speed Shop in Australia (What would be called a Tuning Company in the UK) they were also agents for Wade Superchargers.
Matthew Magilton - Here is a TF plate from P&R Williams who were the MG importers for New South Wales and both sold cars themselves as well as supplying a network of New South Wales dealers.
Matthew Magilton - Here is one of the Victorian dealers plates for Stillwell and George of Melbourne, this one fitted to a TD.
Matthew Magilton - Here is the original Lane's Motors plate on my TF. Lane's in Melbourne were the second largest Australian importer of T types after P&R Williams of Sydney. The other Australian importers were: Motors Ltd of Adelaide, South Australia; Comet Motors of Perth, Western Australia and Howard's Pty Ltd of Brisbane, Queensland.
