MG TD/TF Parts with Dates

These pages list all of the known parts on an MGTD/TF that have date stamps. In general MG kept a supply of parts on hand with lead times as much as four months or more. Generally you can expect most parts to have a manufacture date at least one month and likely two to three months prior to your manufacture date.

1	Windshield	The windshield date is coded in the TriPlex etching in the lower corner of the windshield. Each windscreen on the T-types had a logo etched along with dots above and below the logo itself, which indicate the quarter and year the glass was manufactured. Usually this is the same quarter the car was manufactured, but it could be the previous quarter.
2	Distributor
3	Generator	The date code on the generator is a numeric month followed by the year.
4	Starter	The date code on the starter is a numeric month followed by the year.
5	Coil	Located on the base of the coil is the month and year of manufacture.
6	Wiper Motor	Contains the month and year of manufacture on the back plate.
7	Ammeter
8	Turn Signal Relay
9	Voltage Regulator
10	Armstrong Shock Absorbers	The date code (month/year) is located on the base of the shock absorber.
11	Engine Block	The date code (day, month and year) is stamped just behind the dipstick. Day followed by letter of month and last digit of year.
12	MOWOG Rear Leaf Spring	139106Y AAJ is assummed to be the leaf spring part number. The 7-50 is the month and year the leaf spring was made.
13	Armstrong Rear Shock Absorber	Month and year.

1	Boranni Wire Wheels	The month-year (ie 7-53) and wheel size (ie 15 x 400) along with "Made in Italy" are stamped on the rim.
2	Laystall Head	The day-month-year (ie 8-4-54), model and serial number are stamped on the top of the head.
