The
driving season may be virtually over but members of the Windsor-Detroit
MG Club decided that wasn't going to stop them going racing. For this
occasion, it wasn't little British cars they followed around a track but
horses.
Forty-one members, spouses and friends got together Saturday November 11
to enjoy harness-racing at Northville Downs race course. Some left a
little richer, some a little poorer depending on their luck, but
everyone, without exception, had a full stomach from a diverse and
delicious all-you-can-eat buffet and most of all, it was just plain good
fun to spend a casual evening with friends from the club.
The 4th
race was named after the club. The Windsor-Detroit MG Club stakes was
won by No. 7, Noble Niner driven by Don Currier. Many of us picked the
winner but nobody made a fortune with the short odds at only 8:5.
Everyone did have an opportunity to be photographed with the winning
horse and jockey. The general consensus, "Let's do this again sometime".
