Weather conditions could not have been better when close to 30 British cars assembled at the MacDonald's on Huron Church for the leisurely cruise to Erie Shore Vineyard's second annual summer Open House on Sunday, July 23, 2006.

Cruise stops along the way included the ice cream parlour in Amherstburg (where more members joined the convoy) and D'Angelo's Winery. Our thanks to both for their patience and expedient service, and double thanks to D'Angelo's for the complimentary tasting.

Our entrance at Erie Shore Vineyard was a treat. Proprietors Harvey and Alma Hollingshead had planned ahead for our arrival with their sons (on ATVs) escorting us to our very privileged parking spot along the vineyard. We certainly turned heads and many winery guests came out to savour the impromptu British car show that counted at least 33 WDMGC cars - not to mention the maverick British car enthusiasts who came and parked their cars with ours... now that they see how active we are, let's hope they'll submit their club application forms soon!

To sum it up, hospitality, great company, good music, fabulous food (especially the succulent roast pig) and of course, award winning wines were the highlights of our visit to Erie Shore Vineyard ... Bravo and thank you, Alma and Harvey!

Most of those who were joining us for dinner took part in the extended leg of our tour that brought us to the Pelee Island winery for more tastings before we all headed to Caldwell's Grant in Amherstburg for a superb finale to our sun-filled and wine-full day !
