4. Juli 2016 , schon ist das 9. MGY Sommertreffen schon wieder historisch. Viel zu schnell verging die Zeit beim 9 Internationalen MGY Sommertreffen.

Durch den Verkauf unseres Stammhotels „ Berliner Hof „ in Lennep dieses Jahr an anderer Stelle „Hotel Noll" Remscheid im Herzen der City . Die Tiefgarage zur Aufbewahrung der Fahrzeuge war praktisch vor dem Hotel. So trafen dann die Teilnehmer am Nachmittag des 1.Juli 2016 alle wohlbehalten ein.Der jüngste Teilnehmer kam natürlich als letzter da er noch sein Büro abschließen musste . Danach ging es geschlossen zu Benzingesprächen und einem leckeren Abendessen in ein uriges Brauhaus. Danach wieder das bekannte Plöpp und Plopp im Frühstücksraum des Hotels.

Am nächsten Morgen starteten die Teilnehmer ab 10 Uhr ,ab Ausfahrt des Parkhauses zur Morgenetappe über 64 km . Zuerst sah es nach Monte Carlo GP aus sprich reiner Stadtkurs doch dann ging es durch das Bergische Land mit Ziel in Gummersbach im Restaurant Piya — Pronto die uns einen tollen Empfang bereitet haben. Hier fand auch die anstrengende Sonderprüfung des Tages statt. Speichenrad auf einer Achse von links nach rechts wechseln mit ab und anschrauben der, abgeschliffenen Zentralverschlussmuttern. Die Vormittagsetappe fand trotz dunkler Wolken im trockenen statt. Ab 14 Uhr starteten wir zur 95 km langen Nachmittags Etappe die uns auf schmalen einsamen Straße an die Aggertalsperre führte.

Kurz nachdem wir den Heimweg angetreten hatten öffnete der Himmel seine Schleusen. So das die von LUCAS Motoren angetriebenen Scheibenwischer der Wassermassen nur mühsam Herr wurden. Aber auch diese Prüfung endete auf dem Weg nach Wipperfüth. Mit langsam abtrocknenden Autos fuhren wir dann weiter Richtung Remscheid. Auf diesem Weg mussten wir uns hellseherischen Fähigkeiten bedienen aber wir haben es geschafft rechtzeitig die Remscheider Tiefgarage anzusteuern. Es folgte , der geneigte Leser wird's ahnen , eine kurze Besprechung der Fahrt mit ihren Sonderprüfungen in der die Sieger mit rohen Fleischstücken belohnt wurden. Dazwischen aber immer wieder das berühmte plöpp und plopp so verging der frühe Abend und es wurde durch Manfred das Buffet eröffnet. Nach dem Abendessen Kalle übermittelte noch Grüße des MGCC Y Registers Mike und Sue Silk zu diesem Event .Danach verteilte Kalle anstatt Pokale an jedes teilnehmende Fahrzeug eine 60 Jahre MG Y Geburtstagstasse mit einem Blechschild zum 50 ten Geburtstag und einen Sticker des MGCC Y Registers. Dann wurde bis zum Achtelfinale Benzin geredet . Das Ende des 8tel Finale verbrachten wir im Spanischen Restaurant welches sich im Erdgeschoss des Hotels befindet, so wie es sich für ein internationales Treffen gehört. Das Ergebnis des spannenden Spiels setzen wir als bekannt vorraus . Nach Mitternacht wurden dann die Schlafstätten aufgesucht.

Nach einer kurzen Nacht die durch die in Remscheid kreisende Autokorsen verursacht wurden ging es am Sonntag noch nach Radevormwald wo in einer alten Weberei ( Wülfing ) eine Leonardo da Vinci Ausstellung mit Modellen seiner reichhaltigen Erfindungen gezeigt wurde. Nach einer hoffnungsvollen Verabschiedung sich zum 10 MGY Treffen wieder in Remscheid einzufinden , fuhren die Teilnehmer zurück nach Remscheid wobei sich unterwegs die Wege je nach Fernziel trennten. Zum 9. MGY Sommertreffen hatten wir Krankheitsbedingt 8 Fahrzeuge , meist Folgetäter. Fürs Jubiläumstreffen 2017 erhoffen wir uns doch noch gewaltige Zuwächse, vor allem das die dieses Jahr kranken Freunde wieder dabei sein werden .Gute Besserung.

Ninth International MG Y-Type Summer Meeting

The 9th international MG Y Type meeting, which has now become a well known and historical meeting, took place from the 1st July to the 03 July 2016.

Unfortunately our usual accommodation and meeting place "Hotel Berliner Hof" had been sold and we had to move to another location in the heart of the city "Remscheid". Here we had the opportunity to store our beloved MG cars safely in a nearby underground parking garage. All participants arrived, one after the other, but all safe and as usual in a good mood. After a warm welcome by Manfred and Kalle, we had our first drinks together, before we moved to a nearby historical restaurant for a delicious meal. Back in the hotel, there was again the famous sound of the "plöpp and plops" of the beer +wine bottles. Lots of talking and exchange of news was the evening program.

The next morning we started to our 64 km long morning drive by 10:00h. This drive took us round the beautiful landscape of the "Bergisches Land". Luckily we all made it without any problems till we arrived for lunch at the restaurant "Piya-Pronto", where we received a very warm welcome and delicious food and drinks. After lunch we have had our first competition: Changing spoke wire wheels from left to right, but without any marker (turn right), (turn left) on the central looking nuts. Some nasty guy had ground it down, so no hint was given and some of us were struggling a bit to get the job done. During the morning the weather was not too bad for us, but shortly after lunch it started to rain quite heavily, never the less we went on for the next 95 km. Our Lucas wipers worked hard and constantly, but they could not avoid the rainwater that was coming in to the cars, sometimes in places where we never expected it. However we all enjoyed the beautiful landscape on the way to the lake "Agger" and then via the town "Wipperfürth" back to the city of "Remscheid". Back in the hotel Manfred and Kalle gave a review of the trip and handed over a nice piece of ham from the region to the winner of the rally. The ceremony was surrounded by the famous sound of "plöpp and plops" from the beer + wine bottles again. Early evening Manfred declared the buffet open and everybody enjoyed the lovely food.

After dinner Kalle passed on greetings from MGCC Y register Mike and Sue Silk to the participants. Instead of trophies Kalle handed over to all drivers the MG Y 60th. year birthday cup, a sticker of the MGCC Y and a metal badge for the 50th birthday. The evening continued with telling lots of MG-Stories, until we moved downstairs to a Spanish Restaurant to watch the last minutes of the EU soccer match Italy against Germany. Since the owner of the restaurant wanted to close his restaurant we all retired to bed.

Only a relatively short night, but a long breakfast made us strong enough to start with our cars to the city of "Radevormwald". Here we visited a Leonardo da Vinci exhibition, where models of his breath-taking inventions were presented.

From here all MG Ys started to their home- destination in Luxemburg, Netherlands and different city in Germany. Only 8 MG Y Types participated in this year`s meeting. Unfortunately some of our MG Y friends could not come due to illness. We wish them a quick recovery and hope that they will join us again next year.

We are looking forward to the 10th. anniversary of the MG Y international meeting in 2017.
