Picture of the Month
August 2006
Here is this month's picture. We hope to update this feature with a fresh picture every month. Please contact me via our Contact Us page and asking me to contact you for a picture. We have changed our email contact procedures in order to prevent spammers so apologies for any inconvenience. Ideally they should be of something special, a special location and your Y, an interesting close up shot of a lesser seen part of a Y that you think will be of help or interest to others, etc. Please also send a couple of lines of text to go with the picture.
Friends of ours had a holiday in Cuba and took a picture of this MG Y in daily use. Bert Keuren, The Netherlands.
You can just make out it is a Left Hand Drive model so it is more than likely a YA. Also just visible us the outline of the rear brake drum so if it is a YA it is more than likely to be still running on the original half shafts, or else the Cubans have found a way to repair them. With Cuba being such a haven for old cars it is probably no surprise that there is a surviving Y there. How many others could there be on the island? Unfortunately there are no pictures of the detail of the car, such as interior etc. If it had been me I think I would have had the bonnet open to see if it is still the XPAG in there and to see what condition the interior is in.
A wonderful find, thank you Bert for sharing it with us. Webmaster
