Willem van der Veer says "Attached is a picture of Y5888 with my daughter Ella and my son Thomas, performing some last minute polishing before winning second prize overall at the 50years MG Car Club Luxembourg anniversary 2007, in a field of 110 MGs from all over Europe. The competition consisted of a 100 mile rally, concours d'elegance and a "valve cover" race. At the concours d'elegance the judges for the outside were cunningly influenced by sending the children to polishing duty when they were near. For the interior these tricks were not necessary; the female judge fell absolutely in love with the original red interior!"
