Barbara and David Hague's
or the Western Australia first Spring Run 12 Novemeber 2005by Richard Prior
On the 12th of November '05 a small group of Y Type owners got together for what could be the inaugural Y Type Run, but on this occasion it was to welcome David and Barbara Hague to the Sunny Blue Skies of Perth Western Australia. Preceding this there had been emails flying around between David, Alf Luckman (Sydney), myself and Mike Burden. I was in and out of the country and interstate so thanks to Mike who got in touch with everyone and put the organisation together.
Four Y Types, 2 TDs and a Twin Cam met at Ron Humphris's house in Melville where Ron has his YB, YT, MG MkIV and other assorted Morris projects. We all introduced ourselves to David and Barbara and after much chatter and inspection of cars we made tracks to Bill Jenkinson's home to see another YA. Bill has been tinkering with his Y for some years and enjoys outings in the car. He also owns a TC and PB. From Bill's house it was time to move on and was here we said goodbye to Peter Copestake in his YT. David and Barbara climbed aboard Mike and Loretta's B powered YA and Bill rode shotgun with Ron Humphris. The pace was a little slow for Mike and yours truly in B powered YA and YT so we went ahead but got a little lost and only arrived minutes before the others anyway!
This final leg of our journey was up into the hills to the home of Mike and Lynette Burden in Mundaring and delightful spread of food and refreshments. This gave everybody the opportunity to inspect the brand new restoration of Mike and Lynette's YA. This has been a labour of love for both of them and they now look forward to getting the car registered and driving it about. A late arrival but without either of his YAs was Alex Kochanowitsc who we haven't seen for yonks.
