12 International MG Y-Type Summer Meeting, Lennep, Germany, July 5 - 7, 2019

by Kalle Borchers

If the names of the drivers are Manfred, Reg, Robert, Willem, Derek, Joachim and Kalle, and then the sounds of Plöpp and Plopp are heard on Saturday evenings, then you have certainly landed at one of these MG Y Types Summer Meetings. So it was again this year at the 12th International MG Y Sommertreff in Remscheid which took place from 5 to 7 July 2019.

After the participants had arrived at the hotel until late afternoon, the gasoline talks took place in the restaurant dining room 5630.

Pinsa and Pillekuchen as well as Bergischer black pudding with curry sauce broadened the culinary horizon.

After that night was announced because on Saturday morning the start for the exit at 10 o'clock took place.

This year it went, in glorious sunshine, in the formation flight about 150 km over the narrow beautiful streets of the Bergisches Land, handpicked the track again and accurately documented with Chinese characters made it easy to follow the swift moving train of the MG's so that you can sonorous barking of the exhaust pipes could hear far. The beautiful ride was interrupted by a champagne break in the morning and a lunch break at the “musical Wirt” in Hartegasse where a delicious schnitzel was waiting for each participant, it should be emphasized that all special requests for the food were immediately taken into account.

So freshly strengthened were then taken the remaining miles of the ride under the wheels.

After the return was announced in Remscheid recovery until then at 19 o'clock the dinner and the well-known Plöpp and Plopp began. The last ones left the location around 1 o'clock the following day in which the whole evening a funny multi-language vocal chaos prevailed.

Unfortunately, the next morning left a farewell mood. After a joint trip to a nearby falconry, the meeting sounded out on a nice flight show of local and attached birds of prey.

After the last farewell photo with a white-tailed eagle, the participants left this place together and the caravan slowly broke up slowly after the motorway entrance and further destination, so that Manfred finally had to drive home alone in Wermelskirchen.
