In 2012, due to popular demand, we had another great weekend at Mt. Victoria to celebrate the 65th Anniversary with 65 in Top Gear.
In 2017, Debbie and I took up the challenge as hosts for the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the M.G. Y-Type, with Steve and Lynne as our guests, and it was 70 flat out FUN ! in Nambour.

Fans of Britain's two most beloved sportscar marques have much to look forward to ahead of the International MG and Triumph Spares Day on Sunday 10th February 2019 at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, Warwickshire.
More than twenty MG & Triumph car clubs will be exhibiting at the event meaning whatever your preference your most likely to find it represented at the show. Owners and experts will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions you may have.
Alongside specialist traders for both marques, the show will host a wide selection of autojumble, automobilia and cars for sale. Whether you are after a part, a project or a poster, you are bound to find it on sale at the show.
Thanks to all those who supported the first newly merged Carole Nash International MG and Triumph Spares Day which proved a success for fans of both manufacturers as 10,653 enthusiasts joined us at Stoneleigh Park.
The response to the dual show in the run up to its opening had been fantastic with halls one and two selling out of space early on, to the point where we had a waiting list. Adding the fourth hall and investing in the infrastructure of the show with more carpeted areas, a covered linkway between halls and better heating was a big hit with visitors and the 20 plus clubs in attendance.
In fact we were caught off guard at just how well the show was received in terms of the traffic, with the usual entry points used in previous years unable to cope so we are already looking at opening other entry points within Stoneleigh Park as we do for Race Retro, for the 2016 event.
The 2016 International MG and Triumph Spares Day will take place on Sunday 21st March. When and we hope you will join us in continuing to build the show in its second year.

Y-Type Register have confirmed that they hope to be able to attend and to be a part of the weekend program.
The weekend will include social events, technical sessions, garage visits, talks by featured guests and a couple of great driving and sightseeing tours through the scenic Sunshine Coast Hinterland roads to exercise and enjoy our Y-Types. And of course, another great photo shoot is planned!

North American Council of MG Registers Fourth All Register Meet - Reno, Tahoe, Nevada, USA.
An All Register Meet is planned for the 13 - 17 June 2011. Click here for the full programme of events.
The All MG Events, organized by the MG Council, are held every five years. The first was in 1996 in Indianapolis – 108oF in the shade, but there wasn’t any! Then Minneapolis in 2001 – a beautiful car show site on tree-lined streets. Gatlinburg in 2006 provided the ultimate in family entertainment. Now it is the turn of the west of the North American continent to see one of these great events.
Based at the Tri-Properties in Reno – the Silver Legacy, Circus-Circus, and the El Dorado – these hotels are linked by skyways, and one parking garage where there will be reserved MG parking. Trailer parking is also on-site.
The event schedule includes:
Monday, June 13th – Package pickup, and a “Welcome Reception” in the evening for all participants, at the National Automobile Museum, just 0.5 miles from the hotels.
Tuesday, June 14th – local self-drive tours to Lake Tahoe, Carson City/Virginia City, or the same in an air-conditioned coach.
Wednesday, June 15th - an autocross race, and performance driving instruction. MG2011 Fun Auction and Morris Garage Band entertainment.
Thursday, June 16th – Car show in Reno's Rancho San Rafael Park, about 1.5 miles from the hotels – we expect 800-1000 cars in this show. Gala Banquet (Buffet) and award ceremonies for each Register in the evening.
Friday, June 17th – Hugs for the trip home, and farewells 'till next time.
This is also NAMGAR’s GT-36 event, so all the usual GT features for MGA, Magnette, and variant drivers will be on the menu – First Timer’s Reception and NAMGAR dinner (Tuesday evening), Magnette Owner’s Breakfast (Tuesday morning), and a drive to lunch on Lake Tahoe (Wednesday). This drive includes a catered lunch in a state park, and is restricted to 35 cars only due to parking constraints. The GT-36 Hospitality Room will be located in the Silver Legacy, which will also be the venue for tech talks, and the vendor room. Vendors will be in this room Monday to Thursday and some will also be at the Car Show site. NAMGAR is organizing “Hot August Nights”, just a few months earlier than usual!
MG 2011 first all MG Event in the west, we can expect to see western US and western Canadian MG’s that have never been to one of these events before. To make the drive to Reno even more fun for cars from the east, NAMGAR is encouraging all MG drivers to be part of the “Rallye to Reno”. This will start from Ocean City, Maryland, on June 4th, and you are invited to join the convoy as it drives Route 50 west to Reno. Stops to admire the sights are scheduled enroute. Details are on the NAMGAR website.
Event registration and hotel reservations can be made through the event website. You will also be able to order event regalia, dash plaques, etc, through the web site.
A strong contingent of Y Types in attendance would ensure that we get our own class ... rather than being classed as "Variants" so register early at the Official site. If you plan on driving your Y Type to the event, you can also join in the convoy!

UK MG Car Club Y Type Register Autumn Run - Tour the Mountains and Plains of South Bedfordshire
Stondon Museum of Transport to Leighton Buzzard Railway
Last year the MG Y Type Register had an inaugural Autumn Run to complement the Spring Runs that are organised so ably every year by Jerry Birkbeck.
As some of you may have missed this event, we are having a second inaugural run this year.
The run will start at the Stondon Museum of Transport and go through South Bedfordshire's mountain passes to the Leighton Buzzard Railway.
The run will start at around 12.00am and we aim to be at Leighton Buzzard Railway for 2.00pm. The Stondon Museum of Transport is packed with a collection of around 350 vintage vehicles (and when we say packed, we mean packed). These range from family saloons to rare sports specials and from motorbikes to London buses.
The Leighton Buzzard Railway is a 3 mile long narrow gauge railway which is home to 60 locomotives; steam, diesel and petrol. The day of the run coincides with their Gala Weekend, 'Tropical Steam' featuring locomotives that worked in the tropics, on sugar plantations and the like. We have been given a discount on entry fees to both attractions. Entry to the run is £12.50; which includes a Rally Board and Route Book. We hope that Y Type owners who haven't been to Spring Runs before will be able to join us. Interlopers are also welcome of course.
The MG Car Club of Queensland, Australia has decided to host a Clubroom night for Y-Types on the evening of Friday 5th March.
There will be a Concours YA and YT on display in the clubrooms, and lots of Y-Types in the car park. There will be Y-Type Books & Memorabilia there too.
The event kicks off at 6:30pm. More details/location is available on the club website above. Both members and non-members are welcome, all you need is an interest in Y-Types. There are currently around 30 Y-Types in the Brisbane area, so we can expect a good roll-up of cars/owners.
The 13th Spring Run and Dinner will be held during the weekend of Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd May 2010. The event will be held in the glorious Herefordshire countryside. On Saturday the Annual Dinner will held at The Royal Oak Hotel in Ledbury (7.00 for 7.30 pm). The price is £25 per head for a three course meal.
On Sunday the Spring Run will commence from the car park at Ledbury Rugby Club, where coffee/rolls will be available for purchase. departing from 11.30 am and will follow a route to Berrington Hall, just north of Leominster . This is a National Trust property, NT members have free entry and non-members a group rate of 2 for the price of 1 at £6.05. The entry fee for the run (including rally board and route book) is £12.50 per car.
The 16th Ripon Old Car Show will be held as a Classic Car Gathering on Sunday 25th July 2010. There will be a Y type stand hosted by Arlene & Andrew Coulson and if Y types (or their owners!) contact them they will receive FREE entry to the Show.
The Event will be held at Ripon Racecourse (entry from the Boroughbridge Road) with gates open at 10 a.m. and the usual excellent catering offered by A&A throughout the day. As well as around 600 cars there will be commercial vehicles and an autojumble! (If anyone who is coming needs anything in the Y range, give Andrew a call he'll probably have one somewhere!)
Last year's quiz winners — Yes that's you Barbara Goodyear! — are expected to provide an entertaining test of knowledge, skill and patience and Malcolm Hardy may bring his 'yet to be christened by the Register' car for your delight!
Entry is by pre-booked pass (contact Andrew/Arlene for a free one) or pay on the gate!

This year the MG Y Type register are having an Autumn Run to complement the Spring Runs organised so well every year by Jerry Birkbeck.
The run will start in the pretty town of Woburn and go through Bedfordshire lanes to the Shuttleworth Collection in Old Warden.
The run will start at around 11.00am and we aim to be at Old Warden for the start of the day's flying at 2.00pm.
The Shuttleworth Collection houses an astounding collection of airworthy vintage aircraft from the earliest aeroplane still flying, powered by its original engine, through thirties biplanes to second world war fighters. Whether or not you've ever visited before, the sight, sound and smell of Edwardian aeroplanes flying over a classic grass aerodrome at twilight is unforgettable.
If the aeronautical doesn't appeal to you there are the beautiful Swiss Gardens to visit and a Falconry Centre. If that's not enough there's also a children's playground and a field full of wallabies, emus and llamas.
We have been given dedicated parking space on the flight line for 30 cars and a 10% discount on entry to the event.
Entry to the run is free for MG Y Type Owners (£5.00 for others), including a Rally Board and Route Book.
Entry to the Shuttleworth Collection with exclusive parking on the flight line is at a discounted price of £18.00 per person.
We hope that Y Type owners who have not been to Spring Runs before will be able to join us. Interlopers are also welcome of course.

will be holding their one day Classic Car Gathering on Sunday 26th July 2009. There will be a Y type stand hosted by Arlene & Andrew Coulson and the first 10 Y types to contact them will receive FREE entry to the Show.
The Event will be held at Ripon Race course (entry from the Boroughbridge Road) with gates open at 10a.m. and the usual excellent catering offered by A&A throughout the day. As well as around 500 cars there will be commercial vehicles and a useful autojumble! (If anyone who is coming needs anything in the Y range, give Andrew a call he'll probably have one somewhere!)

You are invited to join fellow Y owners on a 3 night tour of the North York Moors during August 2009. Based at The Worsely Hotel in the delightful village of Hovingham, participants will gather during Sunday, 16th August in time for cocktails and dinner, followed by distribution of the Tour Documentation.
Hovingham is an old Moors village, dating from Roman times and listed in the Doomsday Book. It is the home of the Worsely family — at Hovingham Hall — and still has its village shops, pub and church as one would expect!
The North York Moors is one of just 12 National Parks in England & Wales, which will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the "National Parks & Access to the Countryside Act, 1949" which was the legislation creating all of our National Parks!
The Worsely Hotel dates from the 1840's and offers a total of just 19 rooms. Secure parking is available and the Hotel has a pleasant bar and attractive gardens available.
The Tour will include scenic runs of around 75 miles a day. One day through the Eastern Moors, including ancient Abbeys, multiple photo opportunities and a wealth of characteristic villages. A further day will be spent in the Northern Moors and will include travel on one of the country's most extensive preserved steam railways — The North York Moors Railway. Along its route the Railway stops at Grosmont, and Goathland — a.k.a. Aidensfield in TV's Heartbeat before arriving at the market town of Pickering.
An opportunity will be given for a shorter final day's Tour ending at the Museum at Eden Camp near Malton.
Dates: Sunday 16th August — Wednesday 19th August (3 nights at hotel, depart on Wednesday)
Costs: Accommodation for the three nights in Twin/double rooms; full breakfast and dinner each evening (Sunday, Monday & Tuesday) per person will be £165.00 This cost is based on 2 persons sharing.
Inclusive costs for steam travel, Museum/entrance fees are to be determined but will be most realistic 'cost based' prices.
Reservations: Immediate action is suggested, the Touring party is growing rapidly by word of mouth and, of course, by reputation gained on the 2004 Tour to the Yorkshire Dales!
Contact: Andrew or Arlene Coulson to register interest; deposits will be required in early March (or even earlier!) and final numbers will be closed at the Spring Run in May.
Don't delay! The Tour may just have to depart without you!

M.G. CAR CLUB Y TYPE REGISTER Spring Run & Weekend May 10 - 11 2008
Following the success of this year's Diamond Jubilee at Charlecote Park and especially the Dinner on the Saturday, which was attended by 74 Y owners, partners and friends, it was felt by the Committee that a weekend should be the format for 2008.
Some of you may recall that I had said that after organising `Spring Runs' for the register since 1997 that the Diamond Jubilee was going to be my swansong. However, the undoubted success of this year's dinner gave me a new incentive for the future. What I found surprising is that I had never given any thought to organising such an event before. Considering that a large percentage of those on the run have stayed in the area the night before then organising a Dinner and somewhere for the majority to stay seemed obvious. This year two and two did make four!
Arrangements for Spring 2008
Our weekend for 2008 will be over Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2008: the run taking place on the Sunday. This allows for Y owners who are not staying over the weekend to take part in the Spring Run
We are going to be based at Stratton House, a hotel six miles north of Cirencester. You can find details by going to (www.strattonhousehotel.co.uk). I have reserved 25 rooms and there are a total of 33 rooms, so we will effectively be taking over the whole hotel. I did look at several locations in the Cotswolds and could not find any good deals. Indeed the rate that Paul Gresser negotiated for the Charlecote Pheasant last May was an exceptional arrangement.
For 2008 the costs are £100 per room per night for Bed and Breakfast: if you choose to stay for two nights then this is reduced to £80 per room per night. Unfortunately, if you attend as an individual the rate per room is the same (with the reduction to £80 for two nights). The Dinner will be £25 per head.
As with last year we have arranged with the hotel for you to be able to book in advance. If you telephone Stratton House (01285 651761) and quote Reference No G 33605 "MG Car Club Y Type Register". For accommodation reservations the guests will be sent a confirmation stating their booking details and cancellation policy of 4 weeks prior to the event.
Saturday 10th May
The arrangements for the Saturday are pretty fluid, though the hotel does have a croquet lawn ... perhaps a YA/YT v YB team event? We would expect to meet for pre-event drinks at say 6.45 pm with Dinner being served at 7.30 pm.
Sunday 11th May
On the Sunday I am suggesting that we depart from the Hotel Car Park at around 11.30 am, thus giving entrants taking part on the Sunday alone to arrive with plenty of time. We are then taking a leisurely drive of around 40 miles across parts of the Cotswolds that we may not have visited in the past and finishing up at Kelmscott Manor, which is near Lechlade.
Kelmscott Manor is a Grade 1 Tudor Farmhouse. It was the summer home of William Morris, the well known poet, designer and socialist from 1871 until his death in 1896. It is an inspirational place with collections of his work splendid gardens and a restaurant. You can find more details on their website (www.kelmscottmanor.co.uk)
The Manor is normally not open on a Sunday but such is their interest in the Y, and its followers, that they have agreed to this. They have put forward options for a tour, which amounts to £9.50 a head, and their restaurant will be open to serve afternoon teas. I anticipate us arriving at Kelmscott around 2.00 pm. We will have our `Pride of Ownership Event' around 3.45 pm and the grounds will be open until 5.30pm
We have decided that there will be no charge for the event. Entrants will receive their usual rally board and route guide.
Full details will be available in the New Year. However, expressions of interest should be made to me (see below) and bookings at Stratton House are the responsibility of each entrant. So please do organise this yourself and do not expect that by contacting me that I will do it for you — because I will not! I would recommend that you book the hotel immediately and not wait until a month before the event as it will be booked up!
We gladly invite all Y fans in Germany and neighbouring countries to come to Bergische country. They will experience a journey over the most beautiful roads. Forest ways, hills and dams line up well-travelled roads. Here is where your "Y" always wants to be.
Friday 20 June arrival 7:00pm for evening meal with other like minded 'petrol-heads'.
Saturday 21 June 10:00 am 130km (80 miles) scenic drive
Sunday 22 June Short joint excursion to Castle Rock.
"GoF West" is the name given to a regularly held "Gathering of the Faithful" for owners of pre-1956 MG car in the western U. S. Assemblies like this had been previously held exclusively in the eastern United States. Outside a few local clubs in western North America, the only way to regularly interface with other MG owners was to travel long distances to places like New York, Pennsylvania, and so on, all in the east. Full details and registration can be obtained atwww.gofwest.com.

Let's get the largest number of Ys together at any one time, for a big photo.
If your car isn't on the road, well it's time to get moving! If this is impossible, then hopefully spare seats may be available with other Y Typers, so everyone can be part of the occasion.

The MG Y Type celebrates its 60th Anniversary in 2007 - UK
To mark this very special occasion the Register Committee have opted to hold an event over the weekend of 12 - 13th May 2007.
The venue will be Charlecote Park (a National Trust property) which is 5 miles to the east of Stratford upon Avon, in Warwickshire. There are strong associations with both Queen Elizabeth and one "Will" Shakespeare, who knew the house well. Our Jack the Lad' is alleged to have been caught poaching the estate deer, so much for our national icons! More details can be found on page 245 of the current NT Handbook or by visiting the websitewww.nationaltrust.org.
The gates will be open to us from 10.00 am. The NT will also be promoting this event and we will have an exclusive Pride of Place along the principal entrance to the house.
We have decided to include a short run of around 30 miles - which will start and finish at Charlecote, which will leave at around 11.30 am. The run is voluntary and if you would rather stay at Charlecote for the day that is fine. We will have our usual self-judging concours in the afternoon and the Register Stand will also be present. We would like some volunteer marshals on the day and anyone who is interested could they please either telephone or fax, or e-mail the event organiser JERRY BIRKBECK.
On the Saturday 12th May the Register will be holding a dinner at the 'Charlecote Pheasant', which is 200 metres from the entrance to the park. All the rooms at the 'Charlecote Pheasant' have now been booked. There are only 15 places available for the 60th Anniversary dinner though, so if you would like to attend, BOOK A PLACE NOW with Jerry! Although all rooms are taken at the Pheasant, other local accommodation may be available via www.BedandBreakfast-Directory.co.uk[Local towns include Stratford on Avon (4 miles), Warwick(5 miles), Leamington (7 miles), and local villages include Wellesbourne (1 mile), Barford(2 miles), Hampton Lucy (1 mile)].
There will be no charge by the Register for the run on Sunday 13th and participants will be provided with the usual rally boards and route maps etc.
The National Trust will not charge car and driver but will charge at a reduced rate for other adults in the car (£6.70 a head) with children under the age of 16 free. If you are a member of the NT you of course get in free. More information will be forthcoming over the next few months and details will be available on the web or from Jerry Birkbeck at the beginning of January 2007.However, if you wish to reserve a place at the dinner and accommodation then we would recommend that you contact the Hotel sooner rather later - bookings are being taken now.
Silverstone, Northamptonshire, UK - bring your Y, show it off with the others and come and see us at the Register Stand. We will have all the Regalia and Books with us for you to buy.
will be at The Canyons, Park City, Utah. Registration and details can be found at http://www.gofwest2007.com/ but Floyd Inman is asking any one bringing, or thinking of bringing a Y to contact him so that a strong Y presence can be made to celebrate the 60th Birthday of the Y Type. Floyd will be attending in his Y too. Please use the contact link to email Floyd.
The date and venue for next year's Ripon Old Cars has been confirmed in the latest mail shot from ROC. Sunday 29th July 2007, at a new venue - Ripon Race Course.
The racecourse is used by several other car events each year and is a much larger venue - so we can accomodate as many Y types as can make the trip!!! (It also has proper toilets and a bar!)
As well as being the 60th (diamond) for the Y types, Arlene and I are celebrating our 30th (Pearl) anniversary and will be returning from an Arctic cruise to the UK (Southampton) on the 28th - but we will still have arrangements in hand for a good Y presence at Ripon.
Contact: Andrew & Arlene - for details see next column.
If any overseas Y "registerians" want to come to any events and need a ride/a car, let us know, we may be able to help.
Lancemore Hill in Victoria is the place ... for another gathering of the MG Ys as part of the 60th Anniversary celebrations worldwide.
Lancemore Hill is located on the Kilmore - Lancefield Rd, Kilmore, Victoria. Just one hour from Melbourne CBD and 40 minutes from Tullamarine International Airport. Situated in the Macedon Ranges, Lancemore Hill will be a great place to gather and a great starting point to visit the many wineries, art galleries, craft shops and National Parks nearby. And of course, on Saturday we may just picnic at Hanging Rock. For more information you can view the facilities for yourself at: www.lancemore.com.au.
The plan for the weekend is:
Saturday: Meet at Lancemore Hill at 10am to move in to your accommodation before setting out on an leisurely drive with hamper lunch, some time for sightseeing and then a meandering journey back to Lancemore Hill for some official (and not so official) photos, full table service banquet with fine wines, guest speakers, and much talking.
Sunday: Breakfast, departures, joint/individual excursions in the area.
The traditional season "opener" run will take place on Sunday 30 April. The following day is a UK 'Bank' Holiday so there is no excuse for not coming down - make a lovely long weekend in the Cotswolds and book a hotel now. You can then take a leisurely journey back home on the Monday.
The run will meet and depart from the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway HQ at Toddington, just to the north of Winchcombe.
Y Register French Trip 2006 - The Ardennes (Charleville - Meziers & Sedan area and Bouillon)

It is essential to book the Ferry as soon as possible as under this companies system the fare increases as the departure time approaches.
The 1410 Dover departure and the 1325 Boulogne return have been chosen as the most convenient times.
An Hotel will be booked for the first night within about 30 miles of Boulogne and the final leg to our destination driven at leisure the following day. Similar arrangements are expected for the return journey. Paul Gresser is co-ordinating this and will make hotel bookings as soon as he knows names of those wishing to take part. A scenic weekend for Ys, their owners, and their partners to enjoy a tour through some of the lovely Yorkshire Countryside. Numbers are strictly limited so an early application is essential to secure places. For further details, please see the Entry form.
Sadly we will not be able to have the usual Regalia Sales Table for you to buy from at this event. However, orders placed in advance with David Hague and paid for can be "handed over". There are some complications with the National Trust and its charitable status apparently.
Richard and Barbara Prior, and four friends will tour UK and Europe. Hopefully they will file a series of reports and pictures after the event! - hey Richard?
Silverstone, Northamptonshire UK - bring your Y and show it off with the others and come and see us at the Register Stand. We will have all the Regalia and Books with us for you to buy.

Silverstone, Northamptonshire UK - bring your Y and show it off with the others and come and see us at the Register Stand. We will have all the Regalia and Books with us for you to buy.
I am making a big effort to encourage every Y type owner we know about to come along. I hope we can put together the largest gathering of Y's seen in Sydney ever. I already have at least 12 owners lined up with a couple of more in the wings. The most I have ever seen at one place was last year when we had 8 (with 2 apologies).
The event is to be held at Gladesville Reserve, off Crown Street, Henley (adjacent to Gladesville Bridge) from 9.00 am.
