24 June 2010

I have just received my copy of July 2010 MG Enthusiast magazine.  This edition has a great article in it on the MG Y of Leigh Wallace that will be on the Reprinted Article list in due course, however while you are waiting for this,MG Enthusiast magazine is well worth the subscription and is by far the best MG magazine out there achieving a good balance between "old"  and "new" models.

23 June 2010

Y Types are at last getting the recognition they deserve as a recent comment in The Sacred Octagon June 2010 magazine demonstrates.  The Scared Octagon is the journal of the New England MG T Register, and the paragraph says:

In the Members Dashboard we have a Poll set up to ask our members questions about all things MG.  Our first poll - 'What sort of MG would you buy if you won the lottery?'  Taken by 65 members and the results are in. We found out that Y Types are the winner with 11 votes; K types - 8; TF - 8; SA/VA/WA - 7; TC - 7; TD - 6; J2 - 5; TA/TB - 4; PreWar - 1; L1 - 1 and Racing - 0.

Well - there you have it: at last the Y is out pacing all variants of T Types! The Sacred Octagon June 2010 edition also has several nice photographs of Ys in it and a great colour photograph of John Friedler's YT (YT 3030) on the back cover.  The Ys have it!

Brad and Vicki Wilson have also updated their page on the development of their racing special Y 3222.

15 June 2010

Time again already for the mid-month Reprinted Article, and is all about Finesse at Speed by Michael Brown from The Autocar, 2 June 1950.

14 June 2010

Today, please welcome Mike Longman with Y 6116 to Ys on Parade.

11 June 2010

John Harris has sent in a great write up of how he fixed his broken front window winders. This has been added to the Hints and Tips page.  David Loendorf has also updated his details and supplied a new photograph of his splendid YB 0549 to Ys on Parade too.

10 June 2010

Along with additional information to be added to their respective database entry, Gilles Bachand has sent in an updated photograph of his Y 6486 and Eric Platt with YB 1281 to Ys on Parade.

8 June 2010

Tony Slattery has updated his photograph on Ys on Parade for YT 3861.

Also today we are proud to announce the addition of Karl-Heinz Borchers to our list of International Representatives.  Karl-Heinz owns YT 2778 and also runs the Y Register of the MG Car Club Deutschland e.V.  Karl-Heinz joins Willem Van Der Veer covering Europe (a pretty large place!!) and has specific responsibility for Germany.  Karl-Heinz also organizes the MG-Y Sommertreff im Bergischen Land (18 - 20 June this year, so hurry and register).  He is a dedicated Y fan!

7 June 2010

Today, please welcome David and Hazel Jones with Y 4002 to Ys on Parade.

4 June 2010

A new original advertisement has been found and sent in by Willem Van Der Veer and can be seen here.

The video of Marc Hanson and YB 0414 tackling the timed lap at London UK's Crystal Palace can be found on the Ys on Film and other media page.

3 June 2010

Your website has been reviewed and a write up can now be found at http://www.hagerty.com/lifestyle/hobby_article.aspx?id=66724.  Remember, you made it what it is, and it is only thanks to you, your input and your support.  Continue to enjoy your wonderful MG Y Types, and the site and a big thank YOU.

1 June 2010

You probably noticed a change to the welcome page layout part way through May 2010, and if you were observant you will have seen that it has changed again, with an additional item now added to it.  We are pleased to announce, after many requests, access to an on-line Register!  This has been developed with the invaluable help and assistance of Steve James, son of the well known John James of T-Type fame, and we are truly thankful to John for his hard work on this.  This is a real step forward and we have taken the issue of your privacy very seriously in making this release.  The data is constantly changing as more Registrations are coming in.  Please try the database and look up your car.  If you do not see it on there, or the information we have is incorrect, please click the Update Details button on the record card page and send me the corrections on the online form.  You can also use that same form to add a picture, and add your car to Ys on Parade too.  We are still working on the final layout of the data record card.

Today we have three new cars added to Ys on Parade - please welcome Michael Lewis with Y 5020, Duncan Millman with Y 7051, and Dishna Dissanayake with YT 4921.

The Reprinted Article for the beginning of June comes from The Autocar, 26 May 1950 and is another journey with Michael Brown.

Finally, this month's Picture of the Month page is dedicated to the memory of Alf Luckman - a great MG Y man who is greatly missed.
